As the legal counsel and Secretary of the Board of Directors of two insurance companies in Puerto Rico, Mrs. Cruz has extensive experience in corporate governance, regulatory and administrative procedures before the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico, including compliance issues. She also has experience in the insurance companies presentations to A.M. Best.
Mrs. Cruz has managed one of the few cases in Puerto Rico in which an investor bought actives from an insurance company in a Liquidation process under Chapter 40 of the Insurance Code of Puerto Rico. She managed the process before the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico to create the new insurance company, to buy the actives of the company in the Liquidation Process, and helped the new administration in the development of the new insurance company.
As a licensed Public Notary, Mrs. Cruz has made work of Deeds of Promissory Notes Cancellations and Mortgage Deeds for the principal Puerto Rican Bank.
Through the years, attorney Mrs.Cruz has represented a variety of the most recognized insurance companies in Puerto Rico as well as retailer stores, companies, and municipalities.
Mrs. Cruz worked within the team that helped to settle one of the most extended class action cases in the American jurisdiction, Carlos Morales Feliciano vs. Hon. Alejandro García Padilla, USDC Civil No. 79-4, a case before the Federal District Court that was presented in 1979 and settled in 2015. The sentence was dictated in 2016.
