Mr. Edelstone is certified as a Specialist in Taxation Law by the California State Bar's Board of Legal Specialization. He is an honors graduate of the University of Southern California (B.A. 1970) and Loyola University School of Law (J.D. 1975), and he holds a Masters of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center (1976).
Mr. Edelstone is a past Chair of the Taxation Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association. He is also a past Chair of the Entertainment Tax Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar's Section of Taxation and of the Pass-through Entities and Real Estate Tax Committee of the Beverly Hills Bar's tax section. He has served as a member of Steering Committee of the California State Bar Tax Policy Committee, and the Legislative Committee of the Beverly Hills Bar Association Probate and Trust Section. He has chaired the California Society of Certified Public Accountants' two-day conference entitled "Tax Planning for High Net Worth Individuals."
Mr. Edelstone was selected to make presentations to the staffs of the House Ways & Means Committee, the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Senate Finance Committee and the U.S. Treasury Department on tax legislative proposals. He also conducted a training seminar for the IRS National Office in Washington.
He is a planned giving adviser to many charitable organizations in the Los Angeles community.
Mr. Edelstone has written and spoken extensively on tax and estate planning issues on behalf of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and he has taught in these areas for the UCLA extension division.
He is ranked as an "AV Preeminent®" attorney by Martindale-Hubbell (their highest ranking), and he is designated as a "Super Lawyer."
