The lead attorney of many significant and highly publicized Japanese cases, including the “Nissho-maru Case” in which Nissho-maru, a cargo ship was involved in a hit-and-run by the USS George Washington, a U.S. nuclear submarine; the retrial case of Matsuo, Masao, and a lawsuit against the Tanaka Cabinet for loss in value of savings caused by its inflation policy. His private practice, Mr. Soma is also a Professor at Osaka University of Economics and Law, a lecturer at Oitemon Gakuen University, a Visiting Professor at Renmin University of China and a Lecturer at Peking University. Mr. Soma is also a tax accountant, and the advisor to the Court for Maritime Affairs in Japan. The Principal of Soma Tatsuo Sogo Law Firm, where he is supported by eight attorneys. Regularly appears on television and radio, and there have been many newspaper articles written about him.

In addition to his private practice, Mr. Soma is also a Professor at Osaka University of Economics and Law, a lecturer at Oitemon Gakuen University, a Visiting Professor at the Renmin University of China and a Lecturer at Peking University. Mr. Soma is also a tax accountant and the advisor to the Court for Maritime Affairs in Japan.
As a result of his extensive overseas experiences, Mr. Soma has a profound knowledge of Chinese and Korean legal systems. He also regularly appears on television and radio, and there have been many newspaper articles written about him.
Mr. Soma attended Osaka City University and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Mr. Soma graduated from Doshisha University, Faculty of Law, in 1957. He is registered with the Osaka Bar Association since 1967.
Mr. Soma is the Principal of Soma Tatsuo Sogo Law Firm, where he is supported by eight attorneys.
Mr. Soma is fluent in Japanese, conversant in Chinese, and reads English.
